Description

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN *

Wednesday, October 26 at 7:30

A 20-minute talk followed a screening

of the film Young Frankenstein

Dr. Randy Criss (Instructor of Physics, University of South Florida) will give a shocking presentation about electricity.

Through a combination of engaging demonstrations and common language, Dr. Criss promises that you will leave the theater knowing more about electricity than when you entered! Why is putting an antenna on the roof more dangerous than plugging in the toaster? What is a GFI outlet? Is the car really safe in a lightning storm? How can a squirrel in Arizona blackout southern California? How is the Crystal River Nuclear Plant like a monkey & bananas?

*"No, Fronkensteen.

Science on Screen creatively pairs screenings of classic, cult, and documentary films with lively 20-minute pre-film talks by scientific experts and technological innovators in our community.  Each film is used as a jumping off point for the speaker to reveal current scientific research or technological advances, providing the perfect combination of entertainment and enlightenment -  even for the most science-phobic culture vulture!
